Changed availability connected to task duration

Hi,
I have updated the enterprice resource pool to reality. Every resource
calendar is now up to date according to everyones working hours. This could
differ a lot. Some are working 20% and some 100%.
I then realized that this affected the project plans in such a way that the
duration of the tasks were lengthened. I thought the resources would be
"overallocated" since the task type is set to "fixed duration" . But of
course, we have set a unit of the resources available hours in the project
plans. I suppose that is why the duration is lengthened?

How should I do this if I rather want the duration to be fixed in plans and
the resources unit to increase (and even get overallocated) when I decrease
the working hours in their calendars?

Editing the calendar only ever affects the finish dates of assignments.
Another way of updating availability is to set the Max units for each
resource. This should reflect the portion of time (on average) available to
work on all projects. For example if 20h per week is the average available,
then set Max units to 50%.
