changed computer name, can't open documents

Hi, I had to change my computer name from Susans-new to
Susan2 and now I cannot open any Office documents. I
get "can't read C:\Documents and Settings\Susan.Susans-
new\desktop\[file name] In addition, my Word templates
will not open. I tried the repair feature in Office but
it did not work. I am stumped. I also tried to change the
folder Susans-new to Susan2 but the system would not let
me. Please help. Thanks.

Hi Susan,

If this is an Office related issue, rather than a Windows permissions
issue, then are you also using Norton AV? If so Norton has an option
call the "Office Plug-in" that is a little too aggressive and can
prevent you from opening Office documents.

In Norton go to Norton Options and in the Miscellaneous section
disable the "Office Plug-in" option.

If that isn't the case then it sounds like a permissions issue in
Windows and you no longer have rights to open documents under your old
user name. If that is the case then you should post to a Windows
newsgroup, since this one is for Office issues, and the experts there
should be able to help you assign the appropriate permissions so you
are able to access the folder.

Note how this is accomplished depends on the version of Windows you
are using so you want to select the Windows newsgroup for the version
of Windows you are using. :)
