Changed ownership but task updates still going to original PM?

I changed the owner of the project plan and the PM has republished with the
option checked to Become Manager for these assignments (3 times) but the task
updates still keep going to the original owner. We applied SP1 and a Hotfix
(887799) for another error we were having. Any suggestions for what could be
causing this?

Sometimes we see this when a particular task has bad information or has
become corrupt. Try republishing smaller blocks of tasks at a time.
