Changing a backbround color when a criteria is met.

I need a formula or conditional statement that will change the background
color of cell C2 from none to light gray when cel G1 on worksheet
Trans_type is 5 times then amount of that same cell (G1 on worksheet
Trans_type).

Thanks for the help.

If you name cell G1 on Trans_type, you can refer to it in conditional
formatting on other sheets. There are instructions here for naming a range:

http://www.contextures.com/xlNames01.html

Then, if you want cell C2 coloured if G1 is exactly 5 times the amount
in C2:

1. Select cell C2
2. Choose Format>Conditional Formatting
3. Choose Formula Is
4. In the Formula box, type: =TransTypeG1=C2*5
(where TransTypeG1 is the named range)
5. Click the Format button, and select a colour from the Pattern tab
6. Click OK, click OK

Debra;

Thank you very much.
I don't think yo understood, what I was asking, but you gave me enough
information that I was able to iqure it out on my own and that is really the
beter way to learn.

Again thanks for the answer.

Steve.
