Changing a Calendar from a Project/Project Template

S

SteveP

Note: We are using Project Server Professional 2007 SP1

We have a Template that uses the Standard (Project Calendar) which
does not allow scheduling on weekends. The Template was saved as a
Project, and when we attempt to change the calendar to "Calendar Plus
Weekends", it appears to let us do this, until we try and assign a
resource a weekend, then we receive the message to move it to the next
working day, and there is not an option to keep a Saturday or Sunday
as a work day.

Any suggestions on what we might be doing wrong?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

Did you ensure the resources' calendars were also based on the "Calendar
plus weekend"calendar? Resource calendars over ride project calendars
and *may* over ride task calendars depending upon the setting in the
task calendar selection. If the resource calendars are still only M -
F, that would explain why the tasks are being scheduled only for M - F.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Steve:

In addition to Julie's sage advice, you should explore the option of using a
task calendar for weekend work unless you always work on weekends.

{shuffling bashfully} Thanks Gary ;-)

You may fool the folks in the audience with that bashful stuff, but I know
better. ;)

I tread carefully in here. I don't want to exceed my paltry knowledge
of server stuff too frequently :)
