Changing American English to UK English

Joe Starin

Hello NG: I frequently have to take a Word document in regular (American)
English and change it to UK English. (Recognize to recognise. Color to
colour. Etc.) I've played around with the translate feature but UK English
does not seem to be an option. Using Word 2003. Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks, Joe Starin

Open the document using Word 2003.

Click on Edit / Select All (or CTRL + A)

Then, click on Tools / Language / Set Language

Select English (U.K.).

Untick the "Do not check spelling" box.

Click OK
Hold down CTRL and press the home key. The cursor will return to the start
of the document.

This will enable Word to treat the entire content of the document as English
(U.K.) text. Any incorrect (i.e. American spellings) will be highlighted
(i.e. underlined in red).

Run a spell ckeck, to amend the transatlantic spellings to English (UK)..
