Changing BaseCalendar related setup in EPM Server

R

Rayis

Our EPM setup will not allow to use local base calendars.
Now we are in a situation to use a local basecalendar with a particula
plan.
We are planning to tick the option 'Allow projects to use local bas
calendars'

I would like to know the following:-

What may be potential impacts of this action ?
Can I remove the the tick after completing this specific project ?

Please Help....

The "Allow projects to use local base calendars" option is an all or nothing
deal. If you allow this option, any PM can create his/her own base
calendars from this point forward. Given the fact that you have only one
project that needs a special base calendar, I think your Project Server
administrator should simply create the necessary base calendar in the
Enterprise Global file. Won't that solve the problem? Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thank you very much for your quick and useful reply.

This special project using 10 different calenders so we may need t
setup 10 basecalendars only for this project on the server.

Could you please clarify me the following:-

Is there any limitation for number of base calendars on the server ?
Will it impact the performance (or any other technical related) of th
server ?
Finally is it a good approach to setup so many calendars on the serve
?

Please help

I am not aware of any limitation on the number of Base Calendars you can use
in Project Server. The Help file for Microsoft Project Professional states
that you can have an unlimited number of Base Calendars. So, believe me,
ten Base Calendars is not a lot, nor do not believe this will impact the
performance of the system. And yes, I believe it is a good approach to do
this. Hope this helps.
