How do I change the color of the Start button in XP? Not
in Windows Classic Style but in Windows XP Style?

You can, and I've done it, but I wouldn't recommend most of the tools that
enable this, since they require that you modify core system files. Anything
that does this opens you up for trojans and other malware.

Exactly - as per my post - you can't in the as installed system.
It is also worth noting that one of the largest causes of issues with
Service Pack 1 was related to the use of third party products that attempted
to modify system components to make cosmetic changes to the UI (boot loader
screens etc.)
