Changing Data from a table into another way automatically.

T

Tobes

I import data from an excell sheet into my Database. The way that it come
into access from excell is horrible.

tblJan08
Sun |Mon |Tue |Wed |Thu |Fri |Sat | = ( the field)
| | 1 | 2 | 3| 4| 5 |
| | Mr A | MR A | Mr B| Mr B | |
| | Mr B | Mr B | Mr C | Mr C | |
6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11| 12 |
11 | etc...

As you can see its not a general format its designed to look nice more than
be standarised throughout... so im wonderign is there a way i can change this
info (without retyping every little bit) into a different format preferbly id
like the FIELDS to be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th ... all the way up to 31 st... and
have a list of the names like MR A under the specific date. so using the info
from the table above the 1st would be the field and MR A would be in the
first row and MR B would be in the 2nd row.

Anyway this can be done? Please help. THANKS

Hi

Access does not work or look like excell. - OK you "can" make some items of
access "look" like a spreadsheet and perform many of the functions of a
spreadsheet but that not what access is meant for.

After you have imported the data into a table (or tables) you need to use
the data as a database not a spreadsheet - or what is the point of importing
it.

Assuming you have the data in a table(s) then you can use it in querys or
forms to do want you need and then use a report to print it.

I think it will take some time to get used to the way access uses data
differently from excell.

If you open access and press F1 you can search on training and this will
open the MS site to give the basic lessons you will need to be able to use
access.

Hope this helps.
