Changing decimal numbers to hours and minutes

I have a report that reads 2.5 for 2 hours and 30 minutes. How do I get it
to show in hours and minutes?

Assuming you have 2.5 in A1, use this formula in another cell:

=A1/24

and format that cell as [h]:mm.

If you have 2.5 in A1 then you can use this formula in B1

=A1/24

format B1 as [h]:mm to display 2:30

or if you want to display as "2 hours 30 minutes" then custom forma
as

[h]" hours "m" minutes"
