Changing Drawing Type w/in One Document

When inserting a new drawing in a Visio document, how can you change the
drawing type so that it is not the same as the drawing type on the original
page?
For example, if the original drawing type is a simple flowchart, but you
want to insert a new page with a cross-functional flowchart, how do you do
this?

the problem is that the drawing types may have applications (add-ins)
associated with them which could lead to conflicts.
