Changing email address for resource does NOT result in email addresschange in PWA 2007

We changed email addresses recently and although I changed the email
address in a resource record, all sites that reference that user still
have the old email address displaying and I can't figure out how to
change the silly thing. I republish all projects and that doesn't do
any good. I don't think I assigned this person to any project team
either. Maybe I did at one time and then removed them.

Could someone throw me a life jacket please? :)

While you're at it, please provide a concise explanation if you would
of how to best keep the Project Server security in sync with PWA - or
at least keep it straight in my head. At this point I am completely
and entirely confused.

Thanks,

Can you explain what you mean by keeping Project Server Security in sync with
PWA? You certainly are confused.

Are you using AD or Forms Auth ? If AD then the primary email address needs
to be changed in the AD user object and then sync'd with PS. I'm not sure
how this is achieved with forms auth.

I was under the impression that site permissions are pretty much taken
care of for you when a project site is created, depending on the
role's of the resources on the project team, the project manager, etc.

Right now we are using local server authentication (in the process of
making AD work). I manually added the email address via the Resource
Center initially since we are not yet tied to AD. Since then, a few
PWA sites have been created for projects and I changed the email
address for specific users in the Resource Center. Now, when I open
one of those project sites, select "People and Groups | All People",
and click on the user in question, their email address is the OLD
email address and not the new one I updated in the Resource Center.
Republishing the project doesn't help. What is the source of the
email address here and where do I change it? Do I have to delete and
re-created the user? At what level?

Thanks,
Andy Novak

User records exist separately for each site for each user and this is stored
in the WSS content database in the Users table.

If you are working in MSPS 2003 then you have to de-activate the user to
have the records removed from the sites (in the content db) and then
re-activate the user to push the new data out to the sites.

Hope this helps,

This is MSP 2007. Also, why do some users in PWA show up with their
actual name displayed and some with "domain\euid" when they have all
been entered identically?

In 2007, I thougtht that any change to the user account will update the
account information on all sites without having to de-activate and
re-activate. I am wondering if the user synchronization jobs in your queue
are sometimes not completing 100%. I would check the queue for partially
failed jobs.

As for your second question, I have seen this happen when a user has access
to a site through an AD group membership that has been granted access but if
the user does not have an account in PWA and accesses the site via the AD
group authentication instead, then it logs them in and creates an account in
the form of "domain\euid" rather than the display name. Not sure if this is
your situation but that is how I have seen your type of situation occur.
