Changing Enterprise Resource to Local Resource

D

Dan Keen

I have a project plan that has both Enterprise and Local Resources. (I'm
using the Local Resources to track time/cost information for contractors
working on this project only.) It appears that one of the local resources
was accidentally imported as an enterprise resource, and I cannot find a
clean way to reverse the process. Task assignments still show up in the
project plan, but they do not appear in the resource's PWA / Tasks view.

Is there any way to back out of this mistake without creating a new local
resource and re-assigning all of the remaining work? Obviously, I want to
try to preserve all of the actual work that's already been entered.

Thanks in advance.

Your Project Server administrator should do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Clean up Project Server datbase
3. Select the resource in question
4. Click the Delete button

When your Project Server administrator performs the above actions, the
following will occur:

- The resource will be deleted from the Enterprise Resource Pool
- The resource's user account in PWA will be deleted
- In any projects to which the resource is assigned, the resource will be
converted to a local resource (without losing assignments or actuals)

At this point, you should do the following:

1. Open a project in which the resource is assigned tasks
2. Apply the Resource Sheet view
3. Remove the appended deletion comment from the local resource's name
4. Double-click the name of the local resource
5. Set the Workgroup value for this resource to None
6. Click OK
7. Save, publish, and close the project

Hope this helps.
