Changing fields in access

I have been trying to change the field in Access\Recipes
where you put in the amount of ingredients. I tyr to input
3/4 cup and it says this is not allowed. Please help. How
do I change this?

1. How about entering 0.75 cup if the field is numeric?
2. Redefine the field as String
