changing font size

Recently I upgraded to Word 11 on my Mac. To change the size of fonts,
Word used to require command, shift, and period or comma. Now it's
command, open bracket or close bracket. Out of habit I do the former
again and again, and it always goes into a 45-second procedure of the
HD spinning up, during which I sit and wait. Now, waiting isn't the
worst thing, but I like the old way. Is there any way to assign the
old keyboard commands to that function on Word 11?

Thanks,
TnT

I wouldn't say "now," since it's been that way for at least 10-15
years. At least, that's how I've always increased and decreased font
sizes from the keyboard. I didn't know about the three-key options.

Is there any way to assign the

Are increasing and decreasing the font size not available in
the keyboard customization options?
