Changing Gnatt Chart ID numbers

P

Paul

Hi,
I'm creating a series of Gantt Charts in Visio, often with several seperate
tables or charts on a page. The ID numbers for each task start from 1 by
default in each table. Would anyone know how to alter the ID numbers in
order to start from a user defined number? I'm trying to get the ID numbers
to go 1...2....3....4 etc in increments rather than starting at one again
with each new Gantt chart / table that I add.
Any indication if this is possible or not would be a real help!

Thanks,
Paul.

Ik work in Visio 2003. I don't see how you put several Gantt charts on one
page.
I looked at the shapesheet, I don't see a starting number.
Anyway, I don't think it can be done. It must be the DLL.
Let's hope an MVP corrects me.

It's Visio 2007 so maybe it's different in this respect - but there are
definitely ID numbers listed against each task row in each chart.

It can be done, to a certain extent. You'll have to edit the numbers
manually and adding or deleting rows from the chart will change the
numbering, but give it a go.

1. Select the row for task 1
2. menu Format -> Protection
turn off Text
3. either double-click the row to edit the row text, change the
current task ID to whatever you want it to be.
4. It's probably best to put the row text protection back as it was

repeat for other rows.

Thanks, that worked fine.
