Changing holiday dates on Base Calendar

M

Matt

I inherited the Project Server and am trying to change the holiday
dates (non-working days) for 2009. I finally found where to get to
the calendar, and also found where to change the working time for a
particular date, but the From and To fields are greyed out and cannot
be changed. I do have administrator privileges to Project.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You are using Project Server 2003, Tools Change Working Time, but did you do
this in the Enterprise Global, Tools, Enterprise Options, Open Enterprise
Global.

I'm not sure what I was doing wrong the first time but I did it again
and was able to make the necessary adjustments.

Thanks,

Hi,
I'm trying to also get this working. The base calender has been
changed correctly as some of our holidays for 2009 were on the wrong
days. But unfortunately I can't now see those changes in the project
calenders, they are still using the old dates. When I go to project
information there is only one possible project calender (standard)
which is selected.
I have noticed some other problems with project calenders not properly
matching the enterprise calender for hours of work per day and start
and finish times. We are using Project 2007 with Project Server. Is
there some setting I need to force all projects to use the enterprise
calender?

HI Caroline,

If you only want to use the enterprise calendar make sure your PWA settings
aren't set to use individual project calendars.

I've had a look but I can't see where to set that option, is it in
server settings somewhere?

Hi Caroline,

No problem, I actually told you the wrong area. It is in the Additional
Server Settings. Second box down.

Allow projects to use local base calendars. You want to uncheck that if
you only want the users to use the enterprise calendar.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, found it and it is not allowing local calenders as you
suggest.
Actually I got the public holiday issue fixed now by editing from
server settings not from MS project.
And so far the projects seem to have the right calenders, I'll have to
keep monitoring it.

In 2007, you must always start your calendar edits from PWA. This is a new
behavior in 2007.
