Changing My Folder Structure

B

Bill

Hi All,

Now that I have OneNote 2007 I want to reorganise my folder structure.
Having done a bit of testing with empty folders that I created myself
through Windows Explorer, I notice that OneNote appears to pick up any
changes.

Before I go on and change my entire OneNote folder structure using Windows
Explorer is there anything I should know???

Thanks for any help.

Bill.

Are you asking if there's a yet-unseen downside to starting some
reorganization in Explorer? There isn't any. OneNote is pretty good
about incorporating changes made in Explorer.

However, I would still do most of the high-level (re)organization from
inside ON2007 - remember that 2007 now gives us multiple Notebooks (2003
had a single top-level "My Notebook" folder). Create new Notebooks for
large general categories and you may find that there isn't as much of a
need to do further organizing with folders/Section Groups.

If you do decide to create your high-level structure in Explorer, you
should still create separate folders for general categories and select
"Open as Notebook in OneNote" from Explorer's context menu to quickly
create a new Notebook from the selected folder.
