changing normal.pub file

There was a question on May 8 asking how to change the default settings in
normal.pub. Mary Sauer gave a link to
http://ed.mvps.org/Static.aspx?=Publisher/normal.pub. However, I get hung
up on saving the file. I am using Word 2000 and Publisher 2007. The link
says to save in C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office. I don't have such a file. I have C:\Program Files,
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office (this three different times, named in the
icons as Office, Office11, and Office12), C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared (two times, one as Office11 and one as Office12). My
Document and Settings file has Administratior, All Users, and HP
Administrator. None of these files then has anything beneath it that is an
Office file. Please tell me, if you can, how I can change and save the
normal.pub file. Thank you very much.

Yes you do.

You have to enable the showing of hidden files and folders.

In Explorer: Tools/Folder Options/View

Choose to show them.

Replace "User Name" with the username you use to log on. I'm guessing HP
Administrator. Then go into Application Data > Microsoft > Office. You
may or may not have to turn on the ability to view hidden files (Tools >
Folder Options in Windows Explorer) in order to see these folders.

Yes. I thought that my thanks indicated I had resolved it, but I can see how
it might not. I really appreciate how quickly people respond to questions. It
is incredibly helpful!!
