I'm having to keep record of my mother expenses while she is in Nursing
home. I've setup a work book with separate sheets for each month.

Now I have download the Check record from my bank. It was downloaded in
CVS format.

the last two Columns, show as Debit and Credit. While Credits obviously
show Black indicating Positive. Debits all so do as well.

What's the best way to make debit column show up as negative numbers in
Red or if in Accounting format show with Parentheses around the numbers.

I want this to show her when she get home along with the other so that
she know exactly what to reimburse me

Hi Phillip;

Type -1 into any empty cell, copy that cell, select the cells containing the
"positive" numbers you want to be "negatives" then go to Edit> Paste
Special. Click the option "Multiply" then click OK.

As you probably know, how the negative values display depends on what Number
Format you apply to the cells.
