Changing office v.X serial number

Andrew Roberts

Hi,

I have a copy of Office v.X for Mac and had it installed on my computer. I
recently purchased a new iMac and wanted to install this software onto the
second Mac, but because they are connected to the same network then it comes
up with the error that the serial number is already in use on the network,
and shuts down. So, i have purchased another license to try and install
with. So, i had deleted the install of Office and tried to reinstall with
the new number. The problem is it didnt ask for the new number, it took the
old one again. Now, im not so much a Macintosh person, i have used PCs a lot
in the past and know a lot more about them then about macs. Searching
through www.deja.com i found that i have to delete Microsoft Office
X/Office/Officepid and /User/~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office
Settings (10) so i can find the office settings (10) file, but i can not
find the officepid file. I have tried using the search feature and it doesnt
find it either. I know that this is a hidden file, so is there something im
not doing right to find this file? or is there another way to change the
serial number.

Thanks
Andrew

take a look at

http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/office/pid.html

which has a picture of the Find dialog you should use to locate
OfficePID.

The other way is to use the Remove Office application on your install
disk (in the Value Pak folder), which should be the way you uninstall
Office in any case.

You should then download the 10.1.6 updater from Mactopia and apply that:
