changing page numbers when using mirrormargins (aka facing pages or double-sided pages)

I have a double-sided document that I am getting ready for print. However, all of the odd pages start on the right hand side and my client wants the odd pages on the left. Is there a way to do this in Word?

Your client's wish is admittedly bizarre -- odd-numbering-on-the-right is
probably one of the most universally accepted practices on the planet.

I assume you have ticked "Different odd and even" against "Headers and
Footers" in Format menu => Document => Layout.

You would insert a page break at the front of the document so as increment
present pages by 1 -- e.g. before page 1 (which you would not print). Then
if you have the page number at the outer corner of the header, go into the
headers and swap the left-right formatting of odd headers for that of even
headers, and vice versa. If you have the page number at the centre that
won't be necessary, of course.

Hmm, never gone through that mental exercise before -- and probably never
will again. ;-)

Thank you my friend - I damn near wrote the same reply earlier in the day,
but held back based on an internal admonition that perhaps there was a
better way and that perhaps I was alone in never having had occasion to
engage in such heterodox behavior:) Now I don't feel so out-of-step!

Ah, heterodox! Haven't used that in years!

Whenever I use it in future (because it is now rolling around my cerebrum
saying "Use me!!"), no doubt your grinning, handsome visage will appear,
momentarily, in my mind's eye and I will break out in a broad smile.

As is happening right now...

I'm a lost cause. We went out to dinner with several friends last night, and
heterodox blurted out...

Yeah. That was probably excessive. I suggest you save your energy, these
two are slow learners, I suspect you might have to do this a few times :)
