We are having difficulty in properly changing the paper bin in an Access 2002
application. It seems to work on some printers, in some situations. The
problem is that the GetBinList code provided by Microsoft returns a bin
number greater than 256. I have read many posts indicating this is a common
problem. We are distributing this through an MDE file so we are using the
ViewPreview mode, and we really do not want to revert back to the prtDevMode.
I have a couple questions:
Who is responsible for this number that is being retrieved? The printer
manufacturer? If so, I tested it using same driver (HP 4050) in 2 different
environments and one worked while the other did not. Could something else be
affecting it?
Is this a problem that Microsoft will have to address? And if so, does
anyone know if they are working on a solution?
If we take the route of changing the default bin, won't that affect everyone
using that printer? I am thinking we may need to install multiple printers,
each with it's own default bin and then just select the proper default
printer before printing the report.
Maybe I am off base, but any help would be appreciated.
