changing Project Manager

Juul Mosink

I have a strange problem in Project with changing Project Manager:

When I change the project manager of a project in PWA and let the new
manager republish the project with the option become manager sometimes the
old Project manager can still see and open the project in Project pro.
Is there anyone who can help me ?

Mark,

Tanks for you’re response.
I checked the security settings but the are standing correct and he has no
remaining work left. We even set his booking type on proposed.
Any more ideas

I have found that when you change plan owners, and even though the old
owner has no right to edit the plan, if his name is shown in the Last
Saved by field, then he can still edit the plan. This problem goes
away after the new owner modifies the plan.

Mike,

Thanks but even when the new owner changes the plan en republish it whit the
option become manager the old owner can still see – open and change the plan.
I think it’s something in the plan be course it’s not happening whit all the
plans were we change the owner.

Juul

One final thought if the old project manager is on the resource sheet
for the plan (and typically he will be, though it is not unknown for
PM's not to plan there time). He will still have edit access if in the
PM category you have checked "Allow users in this category to view all
projects in which they are a team member".

Mike,

Thanks again,
I checked the security templates again but this seems not the problem be
course it’s not happening with all the projects from the same manager. So I
think that it is something in the projects itself.

It has to be a permissioning setting of some sort - either set
explicitly in a category, in a group, or at the individual level or via
RBS code. Therefore is process of elimination to identify the precise
setting. The only elements in the project which influence access are
you, or resources you manage being on the resource sheet, or having an
assignment.
