Changing Readability

I am working on a document that no matter what I do the grade level will not
change from 8th grade. I am needing to lower the reading level to 6th grade.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Deb

The level is determined by the words you use. Simple wording will reduce
the level. example "High visibility vests must be worn" replaced with "A
vest must be worn" will lower the reading level.
