Changing relative position of shape handles

M

Mike from Oz

I have made up a shape and grouped it. When the group is moved it "snaps"
onto grid positions according to where the shape handles are located on the
group shape. I would like to change the position (ie size and shape) of the
shape handles so that the shape snaps to the grid where I would like it
positioned.
Is it possible to adjust the size and shape of the shape handles outline
relative to the grouped shape that it is attached to?

Thanks, Mike

You can create a group, then go inside of the group and make shapes bigger
or smaller than the actual group container.

What I do is create a group container with a size that I like. Just draw a
rectangle, group it, then resize it.

- Then take the graphics that you like and copy them.
- Select the group, choose Edit > Open shape_name
- You are now inside the group. Delete the rectangle.
- Paste your graphics
- Zoom way out to find where Visio pasted them. BUG since Visio 2002
- Move the graphics to the center of the group, or wherever makes sense.
- Close the group window.

Note, you can still sub-select the group members from the "outside". Just
click the group once, then click a sub-shape again. You'll get
lighter-colored handles indicating a sub-selection.

Thanks very much Chris,
That was exactly what I needed - it worked perfectly (including the BUG!)
Kind regards,

Mike
