Changing shapes

Is there a way to change a shape without having to retype the text that is in the old shape?

The easiest way I can see is to "Copy" the text from the original shape and
"Paste" it into a new one.

THere is no way, and there was no way in the older versions. This is a rudimentary feature that is present in competing products and would be a valuable timesaver from my perspective.
