changing size of pictures - convert BIG bmp to small jpg

Hi

A simple(?) question

I receive lots of BIG word documents (10-50 MB) with only a few lines of text and lots of screendumps. I would like to convert these BIG *.BMP screendumps into small *.JPG. Can this be done in a simple way within Word or Office

Until now it is a painstaking process of extracting (grabbing?) the pictures with snag-it and saving them back to the document in *.jpg format

Another solution would be: sort of batch extracting the *.BMP from the original document.doc file, without even opening it into the word program. Any ideas outhere

Or maybe a macro written in some easy programming language or existing tool, to automate this extracting process...

If you have a reasonably recent version of Word (2000 or later, I think),
try saving the document as a Web page. The graphics will be extracted as
GIFs or JPEGs (whichever Word thinks is more appropriate, though you may
disagree: I've had Word convert GIFs to JPEGs for no appararent reason). You
can then grab those files from the supporting folder Word will (by default)
have created, and use Insert | Picture | From File to stick them back in
your original document in place of the BMPs. For more, see
