Changing starting date

J

JimR

I have a project that was originally planned to start in 2007 but will now be
started in 2010. When I moved all the dates to 2010 (and changed the project
start date to 1/1/2010), every time I tried to print a Gantt chart, it
defaulted to the original start date in 2007 and printed nothing until 2010
was reached. Even then when I tried to print all on one page, I had blank
space from 2007 to 2010 and then the years from 2012 onward were cut off and
not printed. What else do I have to do to eliminate this 2007 start date
problem?

JimR--
try to change started date using Adjust Dates in Analyst Toolbar...
Right click in toolbar and then choose Analyst.
in Analyst Toolbar...click Adjust Dates....then enter your new project start
date...
hope this help...

Thanks for the response. I tried your idea but the date was already set to
1/1/2010 when the box came up. What is weird is that even though I have
tasks going into 2013, the print preview will only show dates through 2011
and there is nothing I can do in the print setup to have it print anything
past there, even on multiple pages.

I accidently solved the problem. When I went to the print selection box,
there is an area where you can specify the timescale for printing. For some
reason, it never reset to the new times I had developed in the project. When
I set the timescale to print from 1/1/2009 to 9/1/2013, it previewed and
printed just as it should! I guess it would have been nice to have the
timescale boxes on the preview page but at least I can finally print the new
project as it should be done.

Hi Jim,

Choose File > Print in the menu and double check the Date range
settings in the Print dialog box. It may still be holding the 2007
date.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Going to the file/print menu was the answer. Apparently the program does not
pick up the change automatically. This has been an issue for me in the past
and I just created new projects. This tip will save me time. Thanks.
