Changing Styles with the Ruler

Is it possible at effect changes to a Style by means of the ruler? I like to
manipulate tabs and indents using the ruler. Is there a command that say,
"OK, now make the style conform to what I just did on the ruler"?

Hi Sam:

Sure. Use Format>Style to turn the "Automatically update" option on for the
style in question.

Once you do that, any change you make to a paragraph formatted with that
style will update the underlying style, and thus replicate throughout the
document.

Remember to turn it off when you have finished fiddling, otherwise the next
time you bold something you will get a bold document.

And as Bob says, stay away from Normal style unless your document has been
properly configured, otherwise everything you do to Normal style will update
the entire document. Pros break the link to Normal style for all of their
styles in use to prevent this.

Cheers
