Changing text in columns...

Does anyone know how to change lots of (50+ cells) different text -
usually two letters in each text box to another string of text without
going through them one by one or batch replacing them - I just want a
function that will change them all in one go for me:

for instance:

BA to Crown lift
CA to Crown reduce

There are about 25 codes and they can be in all combinations but always
appear in the same column

I have looked everywhere for an answer but no one seems to know how to
do it.

Maybe its not possible???

OK, I'll take this one... I need a bit more detail as to
how the codes work.. and how they are presented in your
spreadsheet. If a particular letter is used only one way,
always meaning the same thing, I can help you with a
lookup table fairly easily. You say there are about 25
codes ... I'm assuming that it's like a grid, with a
letter being present in that column only if that event
occured. Or.. is it a string of letters all in one cell,
padded by spaces? If you'd like, remove the nospam text
from my email address and send me an example. Please be
careful abvout what you send, as I don't want someone's
private medical information....
