Changing Text styles on all projects

I want to change the text style for milestones to be red italics. I can
change it in an individual project, but I want this to be my default. I
tried copying the Entry Table from the project where I changed the text
style to Global.mpt, then copying it from Global.mpt to another
project. Didn't work. Does anyone know how to change a text style on
all future projects? And how to change a text style on past projects to
match one you've already changed, without editing them in each project
separately?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave,

This seems so counter intuitive, but after some testing it appears to work.
In the project with the formatting set, create a view (I called mine Italic
Gantt). When I copied that view to Global.MPT, created a new project and
applied the view, the formatting for milestones appeared.
Change the default view for all new projects to the new view in Tools ->
Options.
As far as old files once the view is in Global.MPT, you should be able to
open the old files and simply switch to the view.

[Note]: this was tested in Project 2003, not sure how versions prior to 2003
will fare.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,
Thanks for the advice. It worked just fine in P2002. I still don't
understand why it doesn't work to simply change the Gantt and copy it
to Global.mpt in the Organizer. Anyone got any ideas why this doesn't
work?

Hi Dave,

Glad to know it worked fine with Project 2002 and thanks for the feedback.

Just to clarify, copying the Gantt view does work it was copying just the
table that I think caused your earlier problem. I agree, it would seem to
make more sense that creating a table with the custom text format *should*
work , but it appears that text formatting is stored at the view level and
not at the table level. So you need to resort to copying the entire view to
Global.MPT, not just the table.

Did you actually try saving the Gantt View to the Global.mpt file? I
have, and it doesn't save text styles or changes to the graphical
portion of the Gantt. If you didn't actually try it, do so, and let me
know if it works for you.
