Changing the Active Directory

Ueli

Our infrastructre freaks want to set up a complete new AD infrastructure.
Most of our company infrastructure is based on other technologies and not
affected by this plan, but needless to say that my nice little Project Server
2007 gets all his resources and logins from the AD.

Has anyone ever been crazy enough to migrate Project Server, mapping somehow
the old to the new users without loosing the history? I'm also somewhat
worried about all the admin-accounts (from the domain as well) used to set up
the SQL and SharePoint.

Or should I better apply to the McDonalds around the corner imediately?

Ueli:

Changing the user logons is not a big deal. You can open the resource pool
and use Search and Replace to change the domain names for the resources. It
gets a little more complicated changing the service accounts. You can find
information on changing these on TechNet.

Thanks Gary for your answer.

So, in other words:
Project Server does not store any fancy UIDs for the user, just the
DOMAIN\userlogon information? And does this work with the AD sync?

The system does store UIDs for the user, however, if you open the resource
pool, you can change the login information and save it, and everything is
happy. You will have to setup your AD Synch anew.

How does this affect the security groups? If I switch locations, does that
affect the sceurity for the folks in the groups?
