Changing the color of non-printing characters

Is there any way to change the color of non-printing characters? They show up as a relatively bright blue and I'd like to make them a dim gray.

Unfortunately, no. They're the color they are.

If you prefer the previous color (light gray in 2004), send feedback to Microsoft so that can be counted for future versions.
