changing the color of the active cell.

Hi!
The default color for the selected (active) cell is a pale
blue which is hard to spot. how can i change the color of
the active cell?

The highlight color is determined by your System settings, not Excel. You'll
need to change your highlight color there (you don't say which version of
the Mac OS, so I can't be more specific on where to look).
