Hi,

I have a bunch of files that were corrupted by a virus and I had to
recreate them all. but now they all have the same creation date. Is
there a way of re-entering an older creation date?

I don't think so. Maybe reset your computer's clock to the past and
recreate them again?

Yes, but you have to know what that date is first. If you don't, you're
out of luck.

To set the creation date, there are tools like

A Better Finder Attributes
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18736

Super GetInfo
http://www.barebones.com/products/super/index.shtml

Or you could use the Developer Tools SetFile command-line tool in
Terminal.app. It's free. There other tools aren't.

First you have to install Xcode Tools on your Panther OS CD (and then update
to 1.5 preferably by joining Apple Developer Connection - free Online
membership). Or Developer Tools if you're in Jaguar.

Once you've done so you can run the same SetFile command from AppleScript
using 'do shell script' if you wish. But just doing it in Terminal is
simplest.
