Changing the default font

I want to change the default font for everything from Arial to Verdana. How do I do that? I have modified the style called "Basic" in the Defined Styles dropdown, but it doesn't work. When I close out of Visio, and then return, the text box drop down still says Arial (not Verdana as i would expect) and the font is in fact Arial. I have also tried modifying the style on which the Basic style is based - Visio 00 - to no avail.

These settings are kept for each document. Therefore, you should create a
document that has the settings you want and save it as a template. Then
start new drawings from that template.
