Changing the fiscal year

I'm taking over project management assistance from another person and
wondering what would happen if I changed our fiscal year from January
to July. What would that affect? Anything negatively?

Thanks.

Since no one else has replied, let me take a stab at your question. If you
change the fiscal year from January to July, the only change I think you
will need to make is to require your PM's to chang the Fiscal Year Starts In
option for each project. They can find this option by opening each project
and then clicking Tools - Options - Calendar. They will need to do this for
EVERY project, and you CANNOT change this option for everyone in the
Enterprise Global file. Hope this helps.

Dale,

I guess I can do that for them, as I have access to their projects on
the server. Are there problems if I don't do this? FYI: the budgets
for our projects come to us from above and so far we have not had to
track them; no timesheets, and no consultants rates are built into our
projects. If there is overtime they figure it out, not us. I suppose
this makes for a strange project situation, but there you have it!

Thanks - Naomi

If you change the Fiscal Year Starts In option in each project, then the
Fiscal Year will appear in the timescale bar at the top of the Gantt Chart.
If you don't change the option, then the calendar year will appear in the
timescale bar. It won't hurt anything either way, but I would strongly
recommend that you either change it in all projects or leave it unchanged in
all projects. Hope this helps.
