Changing the object colors in a template

Taryn

I tried ungrouping and it doesn't work. Ungrouping changes the template to a
drawing object therefore all the formating is lost and when it's regrouped,
it still loses the formatting.

You need to ungroup that part first.

Hi,

I'm trying to change the colors in this newsletter template
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC011832721033.aspx?pid=CT101043281033.
I'd like to change the orange and red shapes on the top of the first page
to
a different color, but I can't seem to do it. Any help is greatly
appreciated!!

Well, I resorted to re-drawing the objects over the existing objects and that
seemed to work. It's just a pain to do it.

It can be done. I was able to do it with another program. Sometimes you have
to resort to non-Microsoft programs. Shhhhhhh - don't tell BillG I said
that. ;-)

Hi Taryn,

The drawing items in that template are held in a Word drawing canvas. The two shapes at the top are 'freeform' autoshapes.

When you right click and ungroup and convert then select each of the shapes and use the 'Fill' tool on the drawing toolbar to change
the color (solid or gradient), then right click and regroup.

If you then click on the area of the shape you changed, you should see the square corner brackets of the drawing canvas. If you
right click on that and choose 'Format Drawing Canvas' go to the Layout tab and choose 'behind text' and the text boxes that held
'Financial', for example, should reappear.
