Changing the page numbering formats within a document.

I have two sections in my document. the first contains the itroduction and
preface etc and I would like these pages to be numbered using Roman format.

The second section has all the chapters and I would like the page numbers to
be 1, 2, 3 etc.

I can get the two sections to begin at '1' (or 'i') BUT when I change the
format in one section, then both sections change format.

How do I do this?

I should have said that I am using Word 2002 and it would appear that the
directions are for a different version of Word.

I am also using Word 2002, but the instructions given in that article should
work in any version of Word.
