I would like to know if changing the subject line on an E-mail that is
received has any security issues? This is in reference to the
corporate work environment. Can the altered message still be tracked?
The point I am trying to make is this:
I work in the Finanical\Insurance industry and we are heavily
regulated. We log and monitor all electronic communications. If a
user receives a E-mail message and changes the subject line of the
message, then forwards the message to an outside third party, can this
message be traced back to the person who forwarded the message?
We have records of the date, time, sender, recipient, subject, files
size on the incoming message on the server. But how do we trace the
message back to the user if the user has changed the subject line on
the workstation?
Has anyone every come across this issue? Any suggestions or advice
would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
