Changing the subject, or at least the name

I get 800 messages per day, all with the exact same subject line. "HOMETOWN NEWS RELEASES"

What I would like to happen, is for Entourage to scan the email for the phrase "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE." and take the next 6 words and make them the subject.

OR, at a minimum, when I save them to a .eml file, name the file with those words.

Am I asking the impossible?

It's possible you can do this with an AppleScript in an Automator workflow.
If you are interested in paying someone to do this, I can pass this on to
some scripters I know that might be able to do this for you. I would imagine
getting the right timing to loop the script would be difficult if not
impossible.

BTW, are they all from the same recipient?

These is a script to change the subject but it's done on an individual
basis. I can't see you doing this 800 x daily.

I could loop the script once a day, that would be fine. Or just on demand would also be fine.

They are from 2 different senders.

Basically, one sender is an automated script running at the other end that takes a scanned data sheet and creates a news release from it.

The second sender is the same, only it attaches a photo.

The emails come in at the rate of approximately 10 per minute, so running the batch once a day would probably be best.

The current script is run on an individual message. Getting into an
Automator workflow to automate this is where the work would come into play.

Download Edit Subject script and place it in your Entourage script menu
items folder inside the Microsoft User Data folder to change subject.

Can you change the script to leave off the part you don't want?

You never mentioned if you were willing to pay. I have a friend that does
custom scripts like this but he charges. There are many scripts available
for free, but when it comes to a script that is custom for one user that
would require hours of work, then you should expect to pay.

I wouldn't want to pay too much for it, but I'm not a scripter. How MUCH does he charge?

That depends on the job. Generally $50-100. If you are interested, I can get
you in touch. Just contact me off list.

Diane told me about your need; the job can be done, not that difficult
really. I charge $50/hour, 1 hour minimum. Probably that's all it would
take. Contact me off list if you are interested:
