Changing Tracking Progress

M

I am the administrator of our project server(s). We have the tracking
progress set to %complete/work remaining, and we also have the setting that
allows PMs to change the method if appropriate.

I have created an administrative project, and would like to set the tracking
progress to hours of work. When I go into Project Client, the option under
Customize>Published Fields is grayed out.

I have double-checked my security settings, I have administrator rights.
What am I missing?

This is because the default method of tracking for an Administrative project
is "Hours of work done per day or per week" no matter what you set as the
default method of tracking for the system. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I assume that you would like to enter hours worked in the Admin Project
Admin Projects allow you to enter "hours" worked. If you publish the Project
and assign yourself to the project you are able to test if it works.

I believe the only way to update an Admin Proejct is to enter hours worked.
Hope this helps

I thought that also, but in PWA, the only option is for the resources to
enter %complete and work remaining. It doesn't let them enter hours. I
checked, it's marked as an administrative project, was saved as an
administrative project, etc.

To enter their Actual Work hours for the administrative project, your team
members must click the Timesheet Format link in the sidepane on the left
side of the timesheet page in PWA. They must enter the hours in the
timesheet grid. I know it's clumsy, but that's the way it works. Hope this
helps.

Sorry, I am not being very clear: In PWA, from timesheet view, the tasks
from the admin project show up, but are "grayed" out, and nobody can enter
any form of time.

It must be a permissions issue somewhere, but I can't find it. I have a
"Vacation" task, and a "Holiday" task, but I can't enter time against it. I
have published the project, and even Republished Assignments. I am the
administrator, and have all global permissions, and am a member of the My
Organization group.

I have never seen this issue so I can't be sure what is causing the problem.
I would gladly invite someone else to comment. Sorry.
