CHANGING VALUES IN A CELL

THIS SEEMED TO BE A SIMPLE THING TO DO BUT IT HAS TURNED
INTO A DEMON FOR ME.

I FREQUENTLY MUST GO THROUGH AND CHANGE ALL THE VALUES IN
A CERTAIN COLUMN BY A CONSTANT MULITPLE. I WANT TO WRITE A
FORMULA THAT WILL LOOK AT THE CELLS IN THAT COLUMN AND
MULTIPLY IT BY A MULTIPLIER THEN REPLACE THE VALUE WITH
THE RESULT. BUT I WANT IT TO SKIP THE CELL IF IT HAS TEXT
OR IS BLANK.

CAN THIS BE DONE BY A FORMULA? OR DOES IT HAVE TO BE DONE
BY A MACRO?

Please don't SCREAM at us by writing in CAPS. I assume you are new to this,
but people much prefer mixed case.

Assume the column you want changed is Col A.

Steps
1) Put your multiple value in another cell, say B1.
2) Copy B1
3) Select your Col A
3) Edit | Paste Special ...multiply....check skip blanks

You're done.

Sorry about the caps. No I am not new to this. I should
have seen it. The industry specific program I use defaults
to caps and I forget all the time. I seldom even realize
it anymore.

Anyway, I AM uneducated in the ways of Excel. I followed
your recomendation and it certainly did what you said.
