Changing word options back

I went into word options and I may have changed one item but now when I go
into insert and try to add picture the picture doesn't show up. If I click on
one of the buttons then its like a shadow showing of picture but doesn't
remain on screen.

Would help if you said what version of Word you have. Assuming it is
Word 2007, click on Office button | Word Options | Advanced, scroll down
to the "Show document content" section, uncheck the "Show picture
placeholders" box, check the "Show drawings and text boxes on screen"
box, and click on OK.
