changing Word's default font in OSX 10.4.7

Hallo. I have Office 2004 for Mac. I am unable to change default font from
Times New Roman. I tried to change it from "Format" - "Font" -and make
default different font but everytime I click "yes" to change default font
from Times New Roman it turns back to it and in my Formatting pallete under
Font the TNR stays and I am unable to change it here either.

I can change the styles, but whenever I click to empty space in document,
the style turns to TNR again.
Please help.
Thank you

Is the font really not changing, or is it just the display that is
deceptive? See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/DefParaFont.htm. If
you are clicking Default for the font change and answering yes, and this
does not do the trick, try changing the font of Normal style and checking
the "Add to template" box. If this is also unsuccessful, it's possible that
Normal.dot is not being saved. If you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed, see
the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm

In the Windows version you have to press DEFAULT, not OK (at the bottom of
the Format, Font dialog box).
