Changing work

H

hany

I have a task set up as fixed work and effort driven.
Its set up to 40 hours work.
When assigning one resource to 100 % everything is ok.
The duration i set up to 40 h.
When changing the allocation to 80 % the duration is set
to 50 h. So far so good.
After this I assign one additional resource and set that
one and the previous to 50 %.
Now the duration is set to 49.23 hours. The work still is
40 h.
I don´t understand this calculation. Anyone else who does.

Hi Hany,

Yes.
R1 has 40 hrs of work for 80% units
You add R2 @ 50% as the tasks is effort driven nosw work for R1 is
40 x 80/130= 24,62 hrs
and for R2 40X50/130=15.38 hrs

At this point in time the duration of both assignments is 30.77hrs
Now you change the units for R1 to 50%.

The duration of this assignment now becomes 24.62 hrs/ 0.5= 49.24hrs
Look at th Task usage view you will see that the two assignments have a
different duration.
The duration of the second one is still 30.77 hrs.
On task level you only see the longest one.

DURATION ON TASK LEVEL IS NOT VERY RELEVANT WHEN YOU HAVE MULTIPLE RESOURCES
ON A TASK.

Voilà.
