Changing .wpd's back to .doc's?

I have some old files in a folder that used to be in Word.
Somehow some (but not all) have "become" .wpd files. I'm
pretty sure they were all .wpd files originally. A few
might have been WordPerfect 6.0. Anyway, is there any way
to get these .wpd (Wordpad) files to revert back to Word?
I'm using Office 2000 SP3. Thanks for any assistance.

..wpd is a WordPerfect extension. Very likely you saved the original WP files
before conversion, then saved the converted docs under the same (or another)
filename with an .doc extension. At least this is what I usually do.
