Character Conversion

After entering a record using a data entry form, the
fields of the record (even drop box selections) change
into characters that look like chineese writing. If you
click on the drop down arrow the correct lists are there
and you can change it back, but even the text fields
convert to these characters and I can't figure out what
causes it. Only happens once in a while.

Any clues would be appreciated. Thanks
