Character spacing automatically

I have to add in a drop down button on each cell with
links to other cells in the sheet. The button has to be
mounted in the top left corner which overlays the text in
the cell. I'm trying to create a macro that i can run that
adds or budges up the text (not indent as this causes
problems) in a cell with the drop down button so its not
covered up by the button. The button is 10 characters wide
so is there a way of adding in 10 spaces before the first
word in the cell?
